FST Bracton
South East Team

FST (Bracton) is one of the new projects set up in Medium Secure Units, this one in South East London. A medium secure unit is a secure hospital environment for patients with mental health problems who are not yet ready to be discharged into the community.

Many but not all patients are sent here for assessment and treatment by the courts.More information to follow.

In the meantime here is a short observation from one of the men working in the Project.

"Here we are in First Step Trust. How wonderful to be in the group on Thursday and Friday.

It is a day I find I am dreaming of at night. How we work painting the bedrooms – oh really good. I wish we will have lots of rooms to do. We’ve got a super man, Mr Don. He is very careful in everything he does. He makes the job warm. To date we work only 2 days a week.

The colours of the rooms stick in my mind, the days of work stick in my mind. Dreaming of paints white, blue; dreaming of the brush and how I should hold the brush; dreaming of the people that I work with."
