About the project
FST Abbevilles is a catering business running a restaurant and thriving outside catering service. We work with people with mental health and/or learning difficulties, giving them an opportunity to experience the pressures and responsibilities of working life. The aim of the FST Abbevilles is to prepare the members of the workforce for part or full-time employment in a mainstream catering environment.
We run a professional and fast-paced kitchen which is supervised by qualified personnel with a long track record in the foodservice sector. We provide quality fresh food at reasonable prices in a friendly and comfortable environment. Members of the workforce are involved in all aspects of the business including preparing food, stock control and front of house. We pride ourselves in a keen attention to presentation and our excellent customer service. The Abbevilles team is hard-working and enthusiastic and attendance is high with some staff volunteering to start as early as 7.30 am!

Opening times
Monday to Friday opening at 11.30 am with last orders at 3.30 pm.
The menu is modern European using fresh quality produce with hot lunches, light bites and sandwiches available. We are also licensed for beer, wine and spirits.
The restaurant, which seats 40, is also available for special functions in the evening and weekends by prior arrangement.

Last year, 34 people took up the opportunity to work at FST Abbevilles and build up valuable experience working in a professional kitchen.
Work-related skills and qualifications
Our work placements provide on-the job training. Each worker has a personal development plan which tracks their progress towards them becoming ready to move on to paid employment, alternative voluntary work or further education/training.
A work placement at FST Abbevilles gives people the opportunity to acquire the following skills:
General
The basic skills required by employers such as timekeeping, ability to work in a team and a positive attitude towards work.
Skills specific to the foodservice sector
Food preparation, food hygiene and costing and stock control.
Customer service
Dealing with customers face-to-face and handling money.
Along with qualifications in food preparation and food safety, FST Abbevilles supports workforce members achieve other work-related qualifications where appropriate.

By tube: Clapham Common Underground on the Northern Line, then a 5 minute walk.
By bus: 37 and 137 both stop outside the restaurant.
By car: Limited metered car parking on the street.
